ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES NAMING RIGHTS PARTNERSHIP WITH VANDEVERE AUTOMOTIVE FAMILY
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is proud to announce a transformative partnership with the VanDevere Automotive Group, a longtime supporter of the school and Akron community. As part of this agreement, the school's iconic athletic facility will be known as the VanDevere Automotive Family Stadium beginning in 2026. The playing surface, known as John Cistone Field, will continue to honor legendary coach John Cistone.

This naming rights partnership marks a new chapter in the legacy of Fighting Irish athletics and further reinforces the school's commitment to cultivating strong relationships with mission-driven community partners.
"Rooted in tradition and driven by the excitement and promise of what lies ahead, our partnership with the VanDevere family reflects a shared pride in Akron and in the city's first and oldest Catholic high school," said Dave Vitatoe, president of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. "We look forward to building a new era at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School alongside a trusted neighbor and friend, the VanDevere Automotive Family."
The 10-year agreement will help support enhancements to STVM's campus facilities and initiatives to support the overall student experience. The partnership also reflects a broader vision to strengthen local connections and ensure that future generations of students and athletes continue to thrive.
"Our family is a three-generation STVM family. The school has helped so many of us build a strong foundation through a great education, faith formation, and core values. As a family, we want to give back and support the school that has given so much to us and our community," said Jerry VanDevere.
Green Street Stadium has long served as a centerpiece for STVM athletics, student life, and community events. Keeping the John Cistone Field name ensures the enduring legacy of one of STVM's most influential figures - a coach, mentor, and leader who helped shape the school's winning tradition both on and off the field. Along with the LeBron James Arena and Dru Joyce Court, these two venues stand as the signature athletic facilities at St. Vincent-St. Mary, places where tradition, faith, and excellence intersect.
Plans for updated signage and a formal dedication ceremony will be announced in 2026.
